We have put some useful tips together on how you can take better care of your new purchase. FABRIC

Protect fabric from direct sunlight to prevent colour fading. Once a month vacuum on a low suction setting, and clean periodically by using a damp lint-free cloth. If stains occur treat them immediately using a careful dabbing motion working from the outside in and avoid rubbing vigorously. Removal of stubborn and large stains should be referred to a professional upholstery cleaner.
A preliminary test should be carried out on any fabric before selecting the correct cleaning agent.

VELVET

Light marks can be removed with a soft clothes brush; heavier or stubborn marks can be removed with a suede brush.
Try the rubber side of the suede brush first, and brush the mark in the direction of the nap. If that doesn’t work gently brush in the direction of the nap with the metal bristle side using only the tips of the bristles and being very careful not to poke them through the fabric We recommend the application of MicroSeal for all fabric and leather pieces. MicroSeal is a unique permanent solution to protect against stains and damaging UVA and UVB rays. It is anti-static as well as flame and fume retardant to keep your home safe while reducing mold, mildew, and bacteria.

LEATHER

For general cleaning use a damp cloth and vacuum regularly using a soft brush nozzle to avoid scratching the surface.
Attend to spills immediately using an absorbent cloth or paper towel – treat using diluted, mild detergent in lukewarm water.
For deeper cleaning and removal of stains, it is recommended that a leather expert or professional leather upholstery cleaner is consulted. If necessary. Avoid placing your wooden furniture in direct sunlight as much as possible as wood can change colour due to the effects of light.

WOODEN FURNITURE

For general care, we recommend dusting with a clean, dry cloth, or using a soft cloth wrung dry with water – always ensure you leave the surface dry after cleaning. If the timber is rough, recycled, or raw additional care must be taken to avoid soling or catching from the cloth used. Wood and veneer are very sensitive to liquid, clean up spilled liquids immediately, and use a mild non-abrasive cleaner if necessary. Avoid placing your wooden furniture in direct sunlight as much as possible as wood can change colour due to the effects of light.

MARBLE

Marble is a porous material with an open surface that needs protection, and any spilled liquids should be wiped off immediately to avoid stains. Spilled liquids should be removed immediately using a clean, neutral coloured cloth wrung in lukewarm water.
If more thorough cleaning is required, only a pH-neutral soap, e.g. soap flakes, may be used. Any acid or alkaline product will degrade the surface. Use coasters underneath drinks and hot objects to protect the surface.

GLASS

For the best cleaning results use glass cleaner and wipe dry with newspaper or a microfibre cloth. As glass can never be totally scratch-resistant, protect the surface by always using a mat or felt pad under hard or sharp-edged objects that sit on top of the glass. Refrain where possible from placing heavy weight on top of glass surfaces, and always pick up glass items instead of dragging them when moving.

LACQUER

Spillages should be cleaned with a damp microfibre cloth as soon as practical to prevent possible impairment of the finish. Avoid using any strong or abrasive cleaners or cleaning materials as these could soften or scratch the lacquer surface.
