Piecing together a magical Christmas feel

The festive season is here and—if you’re anything like us—you’re beyond excited to transform your home into a Christmas dreamland. To guide you on your decorating journey, we’ve rounded up five tips to create a magical space these holidays

Pick a theme!

Lock in a Christmas theme and the rest will flow. Think white Christmas, gold glamour, rustic vintage or natural woodland. Let the theme guide your decorations, ornaments and colour selection. You don’t need to adhere to the traditional Christmas colours of red, green or white—although you can’t go wrong with this classic combo. To try something new, choose two or three “hero” colours that go well together—such as glittered gold ornaments, blush pink and crisp white.

Choose your tree!

Do you love the smell of a fresh real tree, or if your hayfever is restricting, opt for a good quality fake tree. Or you could go for a more modern – fun approach as there are plenty of alternative Christmas tree options out there!

Lights, baubles, and more lights..

Now for the best part.. decorating the tree! Dress your tree with fairy lights, ornaments and baubles. Keep things interesting and fun with a variety of shapes, sizes and textures. Adding ribbon and dried flowers can be a way to add a wow factor! You can be as creative as you like here, find pieces that you enjoy to look at and bring joy to you and your family – there are no boundaries!

Special tip – add an ornament you love to wrapped gifts to the recipient has a special piece for years to come.

Don’t forget the rest of the house

Christmas décor isn’t limited to the tree. Create a warm ambience in your home with a seasonally scented candle like our Limited Edition Surmanti Christmas Pine, or Gingerbread, this one is my personal favourite as it makes my home smell like gingerbread cookies.

Add an organic touch

Bring in a touch of greenery and florals. You could hang a wreath on your front door, display dried flowers or create a centrepiece on your table made up from pinecones and NZ Mistletoe for that kiwi touch. Most importantly, allow for quality time this Christmas, remember the important things in life and have fun!
