Nama Dining Chair

Lightweight yet durable, the Nama Dining Chair pairs a fully upholstered seat and oak frame with a distinctive upholstered backrest inspired by Copenhagen bicycle bags and secured with simple straps. The design nods to traditional Japanese stick chairs, and its name — meaning ‘raw’ and ‘natural’ in Japanese — reflects a minimalist approach where every curved wooden element serves a structural purpose. Suited to dining tables or workspaces, several chairs create a cohesive set, or a single chair can stand out as an accent piece. Available with or without armrests.

101 Copenhagen was founded in 2017 by Danish designers Kristian Sofus Hansen, Tommy Hyldahl and Nicolaj Nøddesbo. Drawing on backgrounds in design, fashion and time spent in Japan, the trio blend Scandinavian restraint with Japanese minimalism. The result is heritage-rooted design with a playful, contemporary edge.
