Sphere Vase Square Shisen

The Sphere Vase Square Shisen is a sculptural ceramic vase from 101 Copenhagen's Sphere collection, its square, softly rounded form inspired by ancient Chinese vases and finished in a palette of faded earth tones. Shisen is Japanese for "mesh" or "way of seeing things", a nod to the finish of hundreds of small circles that fade into a tactile pattern, glazed by hand so each piece varies slightly in colour. It sits well on a console, side table, desk or open shelving, on its own as a sculptural piece or with a few dried stems.

101 Copenhagen was founded in 2017 by Danish designers Kristian Sofus Hansen, Tommy Hyldahl and Nicolaj Nøddesbo. Drawing on backgrounds in design, fashion and time spent in Japan, the trio blend Scandinavian restraint with Japanese minimalism. The result is heritage-rooted design with a playful, contemporary edge.
