Sumo Vase Horns

Sumo celebrates the human form, taking its name from the Japanese sport as a reference point for vases that are voluminous in scale, resting on narrow, pointed legs. The Horns variation features a distinctive double opening that sets it apart from the more traditional narrow openings elsewhere in the series, questioning familiar ideas of what a vase should look like. Each piece stands alone as an artistic object, or forms a cohesive family when grouped with other Sumo vases. Hand-glazed and natural, colour varies slightly, and a liner bag for fresh flowers is included as it isn't fully waterproof.

101 Copenhagen was founded in 2017 by Danish designers Kristian Sofus Hansen, Tommy Hyldahl and Nicolaj Nøddesbo. Drawing on backgrounds in design, fashion and time spent in Japan, the trio blend Scandinavian restraint with Japanese minimalism. The result is heritage-rooted design with a playful, contemporary edge.
